About Us

Chris is the visionary. He sets foot on a piece of property and sees meandering paths, lush garden beds, babbling brooks and shady retreats in his mind’s eye. Chris has worked in the landscaping industry for more than thirty years, including over eight years on the staff of Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens in Humble, Texas. He was involved with much of the hardscape construction at Mercer, constructing the flagstone paths, moss rock borders, and garden rooms that visitors enjoy today. He has been transforming the yards of private clients since 2000.

Cara graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science in Botany. After college, she learned the principles of garden maintenance and greatly expanded her knowledge of garden worthy plants at the American Horticultural Society in Alexandria, Virginia. She held various positions over the years at Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens in Humble, Texas, as botanist, horticulturist, docent, and volunteer. Working at Mercer, Cara quickly became acquainted, not only with Chris, but also with plants native to East Texas, as well as non-native plants grown with success in the local landscape.

Raul, Octavio, and Sergio are the hearty forces supporting Fringe Gardens, providing muscle and motivation. They have worked with Chris for many years and have proven with their dedication, stamina, and attention to detail to be indispensable.
